Here's how it all started. A good friend posted this photo on Facebook and I fell in love. This 2 year old boy is an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix. He is also blind and deaf. He needed a home and the moment I saw him, I knew I needed him.
Within minutes I had filled out the application and sat on pins and needles waiting for JIm to come home so I could talk him into adopting his beautiful dog.
There were a few things that had to be settled, the main one being that we have a month long train trip across Canada booked in just a few weeks. It wouldn't be fair to adopted a rescued dog and then leave him in a kennel soon after he discovers his new home.
This dog had everything both of us wanted all wrapped up in one little package: fluffy, soft, smiling, shepherd!
WIthin 24 hourss, we were off to San Francisco to meet "Aslan" and if we liked him, bring him home. I knew we would love him, and sure enough, he was better than I had hoped. He started out a little restless, but eventually settled into sleeping on the back seat.
We stopped at Penny's house for a quick visit and a stop by Pet Food Express for his troussseau: nametag, flexileash, liver treats, etc. Then off off to Grasss Valley where I had left a marrow bone thawing in his bowl.

We took him around the house on his leash so he could get a sense of the layout. Whene left him off leash, he walked around the house sniffing, occassionally running into a wall or a piece of furniture and eventually he curled up on Charlie's old bed, proving that Penny was right, he's a little larger than Charie was.
